Do you take your 997 on vacation?
Well, the Sequoia National Park website settled it. Snow chains are mandatory in early May on some of the roads in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, where we plan to do some hiking (or, more accurately at our age, some spirited strolling). The SUV has AWD. No-brainer. The responses have been fun to read, though. Thanks, fellow enthusiasts!
C2S Cab - all day long. I'm in NorCal, and I'm heading down your way for a vacation in a couple weeks (well, Palm Springs). No way my C2S Cab is sitting trapped in the garage. What if there's an earthquake up here & the whole house falls down on top of it?!
No kids no pets? It seems like the ONE time you could actually take the Porsche. Live a little. You've earned it. Central California coast without a cab?! You'll kick yourself for not bringing it.
Besides: How are you supposed to tell us about your awesome porsche road trip and post all the pix if you're in some sedan or SUV?

*edit: just read the snow report...SUV. Otherwise my statement stands

looks like you have a case of RPP- Rich people problems. honestly who gives a pile of donkey dookie- you're not driving into the Sahara, just pick up a set of keys and go. if it breaks fix it, you have the money.
As far as the snow chain warning... Since there is a drought and hardly any snow I don't think you're going to need chains.
A road trip with the wife without the kids is the perfect opportunity to enjoy these cars.
We have an SUV and an
Audi and I would be so bummed at every apex if I was forced to drive one of those cars on a weekend getaway.
No need to be rude...something tells me he isn't worried about impressing anyone, just stating the facts.
Here's a fact: no one knows which car is best for the trip better than him. He should learn to be decisive but honestly does it even matter? How much more trivial could a thread be?
Why have you read it and taken the time to respond? Twice. Nobody is forcing you to read and respond to trivial posts. Most posts are trivial and all Porsche questions can be considered high society questions/problems. Like it or not there's no requirement to respond so why respond rudely? Life is too short. Read and respond to what you enjoy and leave the rest.
Sincerely,
Tony Robbins

Well darn, I'm sorry that my light-hearted little thread doesn't live up to your expectations for Porsche gravitas, sonny. But here's the good news: you're absolutely free to stop reading and posting in it. You're also free to stop taking things -- especially yourself -- quite so seriously. It appears that no one's especially impressed. But then, I'm sure you're used to that. Have a decisive weekend.
Orange County to San Francisco area twice so far, about 1200 miles each time with side trips.
Last trip got a rock chip going through Salinas Valley when a farm truck pulled out on the road, other than that no problems
More chance of getting a ticket from CHP than flat tire.
Possible ticket, dark tint, no front plate, speeding

Hard to believe. This will be the first summer in many years that our road trip wasn't on a Harley. I know all about the "journey" part! This time it's about the destination.
