Help! The forbidden fuit has been tasted!

So I was tooling around in my 997S and went past a local Porsche dealer. First, they had a 1997 911 Turbo black with tan interior for $88,500. It was beautiful, not a mark on it. Then, they have a 03 turbo with 7750 miles for 96K. They'll give me $62K for my 997S. I made the mistake of test driving the turbo, and I am addicted. The acceleration is unreal. It just pushes you back in the seat and keeps you there, and gear changes do not matter. It just pins you. However, I did think the overall tightness of the car was not as good as the 997. Also, the shifter and clutch in the 997S is shorter and feels more solid. I actually missed shifted second to third because I thought I felt it engage third, but I did not push far enough on the lever, whereas the 997S would have clicked. The petal felt much lighter than the S too. I am completely torn. I love the look of the 997 over the 996, both interior and exterior. I prefer the 997 gearbox and suspension. But the turbo just wins on pure acceleration. I have always dreamed of a Turbo, but it was always out of reach. Now, $96K for an 03 with 7750 miles is doable. There was not a nick on the car, and the inside was immaculate. I really would love to wait for the 997 Turbo, but the dealer told me they will start at $145,000 - which is out of my league. If this is true, a new one is not possible. What would you guys do in this situation?

mmm i would keep the 997S, depreciation for a turbo is gonna be bad when the 997 turbo comes out. Also why dont u consider waiting a while while you got your 997S and then get a used 997 turbo so let someone else take the depreciation.

my 2 cents.

I'd check out the 993 turbo again.

Might be wrong but I think that they're asking alot for that '03 turbo.

62000 for a 997S? Pardon my french, but are you out of your frickin mind? I'll give you 70 tomorrow morning. No questions asked. Plus, 96K for the turbo is a joke. Don't even think about it. Enjoy the S.

I have a 06 997 and I had a 2001 TT. They are both exceptional cars. I understand what you are saying about linear acceleration in the turbo. I think I would wait until the 2007 Turbos show up and then after a few months check the pricing on the 996 TTs. My Porsche dealer has 6-8 05 turbos in his showroom, two of which are turbo Ss.. There seems to be little interest in his cars. Why? Who knows?
They had a Mexico blue turbo S I'm interested in, but @ $154,000 it too much, at this point in time. Lets see what happens next year.

That's not exactly true - I don't care for the 997 design, especially the interior.

I'll be keeping my 996...

Thanks for the input

I am keeping the S and waiting for the 997 turbo. The reason for the low trade is I have 13000 miles on an 9 month old car. (Yes, I drive it) I alsol lack some key options like hot seats and power seats. I usually buy barebones cars, as I am not an options freak. I do have Sport Chrono, which I feel is a must have for this car.
