Bridgestone Potenza S04 polepositons vs Michelin Pilit Sport PS 2
I currently have the Michelins and I am thinking about the Bridgestones. The only reason is the that I am cheap and there is a big rebate currently on the. Bridgestones. The only thing I don't like about the Michelins is I wish they were a bit more quiet.
Any feedback on the Bridgestones will be appreciated. |
which michelin you running?

I had the so4 on my bmw... Nice tires. They are about to go on my track driven 997 with no concerns.

I have had the predecessor - Bridgestone Potenza SO3's on a couple of cars (Boxster and BMW Z8) and really liked them. Quiet, good dry and wet holding and with good thread life. I will be strongly considering the SO4 when the time comes to get a set of new rubber for the 4S . Excellent value as well. Not one negative thing to say. Recommended.

My fronts - Pirelli's are about shot. My backs are still good. I will change the fronts first to the SO4's and do the backs (AE050's) when its time.
I really do like the SO4's and the value is tough to beat. |
The problem is you are looking at ps2s. Look at the super sports. They are way cheaper, probably even cheaper than the so4s and way better tires. Fantastic traction and great wear characteristics. They are even quiet.

Because of my very near future purchase of tires - I am curious as to why you feel that the SS's are way better than the SO4's... I am torn between the two - but I have never owned the SS's. |
I'm still trying to understand the technical or application difference between the pss and ps2. Anyone? What justifies the price difference?
|
The ps2 weight less per tire and thread rating is 220 instead of 300 for pss.

What many of us fail to understand is why porsche has not certified the tire with an "n"rating. Since the 991 has different size requirements, the 19" pss will likely never have an "n" version. |
anyone put the s04 on their 997 compared to pss? No one has rear pss

Wife has the Bridgestones, which came with the car as CPO. Got 14K miles on the rears and probably could have gotten another 1-2K but she had a track day coming up and I didn't want to get DQ'd due to bald(ing) tires. Fronts still look great. Seems to be a nice tire, great handling, fairly quiet (her car is a Cab), and if she can indeed get another 16K miles out of the old fronts and new rears, pretty long-lasting as max performance tires go. No frame of reference for comparison as she's not had the PSS's ... yet ... .
