sorry if this is a repost, Im new to this forum and i cant seem to find anything on this, I recently bought a 2009 911S and it doesnt have the ipod/aux option, whats the easiest way to play music from an ipod or installing an aux cord to the factory radio?
I recently have been told "The units that are available for full integration usually stop at 2008. 2009 and beyond uses a proprietary fiber optic system that is nearly impossible to tap into." I am also looking at the options for aux/usb/ipod integration and bluetooth integration (phone and streaming) as well. I have an 09 c2s with none of those goodies (modern day standards)
Did you check to make sure you don't have the USB plug in the center console? I bought my 997 used and was told it couldn't handle my nano but then found a USB port in the center console, bought an adapter and have been enjoying my music every since.
PCM universal audio interface can be added by your Porsche dealer. It provides 3 ports in the center storage console -- AUX-in, USB for loading files from USB drives, and an iPod/iPhone connection (extra cable required).
The parts cost about $400 (check suncoastparts.com). I was quoted 4 hrs of labor for the install, and my total ran to about $850.
That's not pocket change, and with a bit more you can spring for a full featured aftermarket unit with latest technology. But for factory integration, this is probably the best bet on a 997.2.

I'm pretty sure I don't have that in my center console. I have opened that and did not see any aux, usb, ipod ports. And on another note, I can only fit my wallet in there.
Agreed with above suggestion. My car has this option as a factory add on. Best bet if you like oem look. If it were me and I did not have the Bose option I would just upgrade the whole system to a new unit with Apple integration. For the same price it would have a lot more goodies.

Do you have any suggestions as to what unit will fit directly in the 997.2? Maybe I'll look into an aftermarket one after all.
Guys,
I did not have the Bose system and within about 2-3 hours was able to install the new Pioneer head unit with Apple OS. The head unit was roughly $350 and the trim kit was another ~$200. If you do have Bose, you can get the bose integration kit (which basically converts fiber to copper) for another $550 (http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...newproductpage). Adds a fewer hours of work, but well worth all of the extras you get. All in with Bose you are at right around a grand.
I am 99.99% sure that any double DIN unit will fit in the 997.2 - but only Alpine and Pioneer have Apple CarPlay (which is totally awesome)
Here is a pic of mine..

Which Pioneer HU did you go with, the NEX line? I'm looking for the top of the line but without Navigation...Could always bluetooth stream that directly from phone
I have the AppRadio4. Regardless of the of the HU model, I don't think you can stream navigation...it has to be physically connected.
As far as navigation audio, that should be streamable thru Bluetooth, no video of course, but you can listen to the directions thru the speakers. I do this with another car with aftermarket HU and sound system.
