Need help w/ power seat adjust lever fix. My kids are killing my car.

Got another one...

One of my kids kicked off the #$%#$ passenger power seat adjust lever (#19).

The power seat electronics work fine, but the little white plastic tab broke off. Has anyone ever fixed one of these without having to reorder the entire (#16) mechanism? http://www.porsche.com/all/media/pdf...SA_KATALOG.pdf

It doesn't look like I can just glue the piece back on.

Hints, tips? Anyone have a dead power seat I salvage?

Hey mshanler, how did you fix it. Just happened to me, exact part issue. Were you able to replace just the plastic piece that broke??

Broken lever

Got the exact same issue, plastic teeth are stuck in the backside of the **** (see photo).

My mechanic assessed that this cannot simply be glued.

Looking to replace the switch, that's part #16 in the diagram above (99761372201) and costs ~$400 new.

Wonder if you have any thoughts either on getting it somehow fixed or on where to look for a used part.

Thanks,
N.

Research on power switch part options

After a little bit of research, I found 3 options for buying this part:
  1. Buy it brand new OEM from a reseller of parts, e.g. Buyer Porsche Parts for $340+shipping = $370
  2. Buy it used on eBay, there aren't that many options in the US, but found one for $320
  3. Buy it from a European used parts reseller (most in Germany) for ~$230 by getting the VAT back since I'm a US resident
Wonder if you've found other effective ways for buying these parts.

I removed the white clip inside the lever and clued the white plastic piece back on. Cleaned both pieces [ends] with acetone, used epoxy to clue both pieces under three time mag. I needed to use magnification to be precise with the glue. Put the clip back on after proper set time and it has good ever since, two years now.

Hope that helps, good luck.

I also removed the plastic that was stuck in the lever.

Since worst case is having to replace the mechanism, I', thinking of giving it a try with the glue.

Are there any types of glues known to perform well with this kind of plastic?

Ya Sam, it will snap back in. Be careful with the glue, any excess may prevent the clip from working. It is a very precise fit. Note here,,,I know about my clip, so I am very careful around it. I really do not know how strong it is due to the fact I use it lightly. Don't want it to brake again.

Take care!
