How much did you pay for your GUNDO Mod???

I just received a quote for $800 at a Local Porsche tuner. They said, they already have them completed and would swap out my mufflers. Curious if $800 was on par. Thx.

Typical dealer response and price...

I paid $80.00 but that was just for the cutting and welding of the bypasses. Previously I had had my shop drop the side and center mufflers since I was replacing the center muffler with Billy Boat SS cross pipes. I then took the two side mufflers to a local muffler shop that does pretty good work and they did performed the by-pass.

Basically my shop did most of the grunt work but it's really not that difficult to drop and re-install the side mufflers. Having said that I do recommend that you consider replacing the center muffler with BB or Sharkwerks cross pipes. I went the the BB because they're a lot cheaper for basically the same thing.

Net, net... the difference in sound is amazing!!

I paid $200 at a local custom exhaust shop to modify my stock mufflers. Cost included removal, work on the pipes, and replacement. Best mod I've done.

I paid $200 and I did the removal .... I just used a local guy that could weld. Gave him pics and direction. So I may have paid a few bucks more but it was local.

Banana Gundo Hack

I did the Modified "Banana Gundo" hack. It basically copies the PSE connections without the vacuum valve. $200 at the local Muffler shop. I removed and reinstalled the mufflers. Nice sound like the PSE.

I paid about $325 total for some Gundo-hacked mufflers (Nevada-to-Texas) so I could just swap them out. [I now have the stock ones in the garage if anyone's interested in buying them.] I had quoted a couple of local mom-n-pop muffler shops to do the hack at about $75 if I dropped off the mufflers. They'd use "alumized" pipe, not stainless (which was OK by me for the lifetime they'd likely last).
