Front Fan Issue
 

Hi Guys

997 C2 06

I have an issue with the front radiator fans, where they're kicking in about 30 secs after starting the engine and not going off. They both appear to be spinning full blast as they're noisy as hell and both are pushing lots of air in the wheel wells. They both seem to be moving freely with no sign of debris making them stick. I've tried turning AC off but that didn't help. Anyone have any ideas or point me in the direction of sensors to check?

Not sure how the newer model fans work. Older models have a ballast resistor in each fan's wiring, the resistor used to limit fan speed -- to provide a low speed mode -- or to let the fan run at its natural higher speed.

In your car's case hard to believe both fan ballast resistors went bad at the same time. 'course, this assumes the 997 fans work the same as the older model fans.

Regardless it reads like a common failure mode and my advice would be to have the car connected to a Porsche diagnostics computer. The tech can check for any "fan stage" errors and if he finds any this can really shorten the amount of time it takes to nail down what is wrong.

So I have read the fault codes and i get -

P1632 Air Conditioning Control Module - No Communication

and

AC Fault code 8033 Unknown fault code


Does it sound like a plug has come loose?

Yes, you will have a plug off somewhere - check around the ac rads in the front. Your system will be detecting a "fault" with the ac somewhere and so it defaults the fans to high as a safety/overheating precaution. The fans will be fine.

Has anyone found a solution to this I have the same problem. Currently looking over the car for unplugged sensors.

is your internal fan ie.for cooling/heating inside working?

Yes, just the A/C is not working and front radiator fans on full blast all the time. I also have A/C communication fault.

hvac blower resistor probably fried...this was my case...plus my blower was corroded/fried...did replacement myself

Don't know if this is related but my '06 which I purchased new had a recall on the front fans.... I don't recall the issue but might be something to look at

HI i have the exact same faults P1632 /8033 Front fans stuck on full speed. I understood 8033 to be pressure sensor issue so drained the ac charge and replaced the pressure sensor then got a fresh air con charge - no change names faults persisted.

Have checked all fuse everything is fine.

I am suspecting the module next to the fans behind the right bumper shield, as it looks to be the controller for for the AC pressure sensor.

Any help gladly recieved..
