996 Turbo recommended oil

I've got 72K mi. on my Turbo and until recently, I've used M1 0W-40 oil. The past 4 oil changes though I switched to Castrol Edge, as it's made in Germany and no questioning their quality control!
However, this oil change I'm going with the Motul 8100 XCess 5W-40. Just wondering if this is a prudent move; I've read that it's a "one-way path" and I'll need to stick with it henceforth as there's a possible issue with seals swelling.

Response appreciated. Have used M1 0 W 40 since I bought the car 8 years ago and have no intention on changing. What I would like to know is what oil is generally used in the manual transmission and front diff.
