997 Gen 1 to Gen rear lights upgrade problem

Hello all,

I hope someone can help me.

I have a 2005 2S and last summer I upgraded my rear lights to OEM facelift 997 Gen 2 lights. I also replaced the original control unit under passenger seat to the updated version 997.618.260.08. Front lights are all original (also control unit in the front).

I used Durametric in order to change the setting to LED rear lights (coded from software Front control unit).

The problem is that my rear lights turn signals work when my car is idle, but when I start the engine, rear turn signals stop working.....???

What can cause this? I have not swapped any PINs since I dont know what to change and where (front or rear control unit).... and I have no harness adapters. I have tried to read how to do this and based on that oin swap and harness adapter is for Turbo only????

All help greatly appreciated.

Regards

I'm confused, did you upgrade rear bumpers as well? The 997.2 OEM rear lights are a different shape and do not fit a 997.1 rear bumper.

Or do you mean OEM style 997.2 AFTERMARKET rear lights for a 997.1?

Hello,

I replaced the bumper to match the new design rear lights. So both bumper and lights are gen 2 original parts.

I would undo the led light coding change you did and see if they work then. Seems like if you changed the control module for the rear lights, you wouldn't need to make a coding change in the front control module. I bet the led light change you made had to do with front DRLs and not rear LEDs.

Hello,

I have selected LED in both front and rear control units. However changing them (one/or the other) made no difference.

Thank you anyway for your help,

Any other suggestions?

Someone who has a .2 with the rear LED lights and a Durametric may need to screenshot their module pages to show you the coding settings for what works. I installed the aftermarket LEDs on my .1 front and rear and they work without any coding changes, but I know with the .2 using a bulb control module for them, that may require different settings.

Hi, Here are photos from both front and rear settings. Do I have everything correct?

Thanks

Was this issue ever resolved? Would love to hear since i have the same issue. However mine was done in 09 amd i bought this car in 2012. Been driving my gt3 with no signals for 8 years :/

What i do know is that the front bcm controls the front and rear signals while the rear bcm controls rear fog, brake and night light when headlights are on
