997.2 C2S PSE in San Diego???

Hey everyone! So glad to FINALLY post, been reading posts forever and I am now a happy owner of a 997.2 C2S and am glad to finally be able to contribute to this forum!!!

I came from an E92 M3 and V8 R8, and although both offer a considerable power advantage, I find the C2S has an added layer of romance that connects driver/car/road. I guess thats why Porsche is called the drivers car...

BUT.....if i was to have an issue with the 997.2s, it would relate to the rather muted exhaust note. (Yes, I've read about this at nauseum). And like EVERY thread on here, I am considering either adding PSE and/or X-Pipe (SHOCKER i know!!!)

Is there anyone in the San Diego area that has a 997.2 C2S with either the PSE and/or X-Pipe that I could hear in person? Looking to get one or both of these mods installed soon but would love to hear them in person since these YouTube videos really aren't cutting it for me.

Thanks everyone, and looking forward to the ride :)

Congrats! I have a 2009 c2s and am in Whittier California... if you ever find yourself out here you can listen to my tubi exhaust that was installed by the previous owner of my car... imo and of course it’s subjective this is a great volume and sound

Congrats and Welcome!

considerable power advantage?

997.2 C2S will beat both cars on a straight or track.

Thanks Dennis, I'll let you know if I've ever up in your area!

Thanks! Didnt mean for it to come off that the car is slower, just different sort of vehicle compared to the 2 others. I'm just 2 weeks in so I'm still learning how to drive this.....but loving it!

Had Tubi on my -09 C4S and loved it. Replaces the side cans and the center muffler with Tubi's own cross pipes. Have PSE and Sharkwerks cross pipes on my current GTS which is equally good. Slight difference in sound between the Tubi system and the PSE/Sharkwerks combination with the Tubi having a slightly higher pitched note, at least to my ears. Highly subjective which one is better but either one is a drastic improvement over the all stock setup which I agree is rather pathetic considering the car it comes with.

To the OP.....there's no shortcut to get the exhaust right on the .2 cars except to do the Gundo hack or Fisters for the side cans which cuts cost. Whatever money you decide to spend, you have to do both though. Addressing just the side cans or just the center muffler alone won't do it. Gotta do both.

Dennis, I just got my 997.2 C2S last month and have been looking around for an exhaust as well. I’m in Norwalk so I’m not far from you at all. Would you be okay with meeting so I can hear your setup?
Would love to hear the Tubi’s since I’m leaning more towards FVD Brombacher Street Sport

HI- I do not think you will regret the PSE and doing a X-pipe of some sort. I have a 4S with both and really like it. Just a bit louder normally and then switch the PSE and it a nice bit louder. My wife loves it.

Whatever you do, take note of the latest CA DMV restriction on exhaust noise. They are starting to enforce any mods in that area related to noise. The alternative is to keep all the old parts and put them on prior to emission test and then swap them back after passing.

Nice! Which X-pipe do you have? I'm leaning towards Fabspeed with Sharkwerks a very very close 2nd

Hey Bruce,

Congrats on the C2S!

Totally understand the feeling that the car is too muted. Our Center Muffler Bypass X-Pipe is a fantastic start to give the car some more personality and power (+12whp/15ft-lb). Still keeps that classic, refined Porsche flat-6 tone but is definitely more aggressive than stock.

I would be happy to help out with forum pricing too - feel free to give me a shout to discuss!

I have the Sharkwerks. Fits perfectly and looks nice.

I like my PSE very much. Sounds so much better then the other S model 911’s in my neighborhood.

I have a 2010 C4S with PSE in Los Angeles (Palos Verdes) if you want to make a trip up this way. About 1.5 hours if you're in your C2S!

jgrilo 04-29-2019 03:42 PM

2010 C4S with PSE, in Carlsbad. We can meet over the weekend if you like.
BTW, I had the relay that controls the PSE removed, so it's on all the time... (-:
