I've got a 997C2 and I was thinking about doing headers, catalytic bypass and Evo intake to start.

Will I need to worry about getting a check engine light?

 

I've got AWE full exhaust (high flow cats), evo intake and GIAC chip upgrade....no trouble, no engine lights. I think cat bypass is a bad move IMO.

I was thinking about a low cost/high bang for the buck solution. Looks like this is not the way to go.

Yeah can u believe it? I'm slowly but surely turning to the POWER of the dark side .

I was at the meet in Carlsbad last Saturday and had the opportunity to check out a 997S outfitted w/ an EVO intake and AWE full exhaust. He started it up, and about five seconds later I was sold!


Anyway I've got major construction going on at my house so I've got to scrounge up some extra cash to do this. Patience is NOT one of my virtues!

The sound out of a non-cat exhaust is much better than with the cats. I have the Fabspeed catbypass and it sounds like a cup car, even with my stock headers and exhaust (actually a 2002 factory exhaust). It really screams.

Check engine light does come on every 25 or so key cycles. I bought a ODBII tool to check the faults and reset. It's not a big deal. I don't know why someone can't reset the computer to read the exh. gas sensors with the new concentrations.
