Today's 997-2_3.8 engine cost from Porsche?

I may have missed it but did not see anything in a search for last year or two.
I'm starting to shop my options as the old girl bought-the-farm this morning :( .

I think for similar money you can have a better and/or larger engine built with Nikasil cylinders and those are better than what will come in the new or rebuilt motor from Porsche.

"A couple of Nissan SR20's would pull a premium one week before race wars." sorry couldnt help it, agree with the above response. Maybe cheaper (for power that is) to rebuild with better than OEM parts. What exactly shat out on your current engine?

Initial autopsy appears to indicate possible cracked head, coolant in the oil.
High millage, well maintained car and this happened out-of-the-blue with no warning.
Appreciate the suggestions....I'm always open to taking a bad situation and using the 'opportunity' to improve, however.......if I could get 120,0000 miles on anything with similar power, I'd take it.
I'm shopping.
