new 997s thinking of paint protection film

first time owner of new 997s coupe. I spoke and met with detailing dynamics ( highly regarded detail shop in mineola n.y.) they highly suggest the film for paint protection. I saw many cars in the shop with a very nice job. also they mentioned 50% tinting on the windows would be hot. i spoke with one of their customers and he was very pleased with both the tinting and 3m film. any feedback would be appreciated. P.S. detailing dynamics has a nice website with great tips.

The first thing I did to my car was install the 3m clear bra. I would highly recommend it and its hardly noticeable once on. My car with 35% tint and clear bra.

Im adding it too. I am skipping doing the hood and mirrors. Makes it much less noticable.

I agree, I am skipping the hood

Depends on the color of your car. I have a Artic Silver and you can see it more on lighter colors than dark colors. Black cars have it the best, you can barely notice it on a black car.

Definitely worth it for paint protection from rock chips or scratches!

I did not clear bra my first 997 and it was heavily pitted with just 10,300 miles on it. I have 5,500 on my Club Coupe and no pitting. I did the front bumper, half the hood, the side mirrors, the door edges and the edge around the gas tank.

Color matters, a lot IMO. My first 997 was black and I wouldn't drive it a week without film if I every buy another black car.

TJ at chips away did a great job (Orange County).

Does anyone have a good person in the Florida area?

These guys are highly regarded in the exotics community. www.premiermobilegroup.com
Sam and his crew may have some connections across the states.

Matt did mine and you can barely tell it is there.

He does a first class job and you will be thrilled with the results. Especially after one sandblasted drive down the Cross Island or wherever any construction is being done (and in NY thats just about everywhere).

Just found out there is no kit available yet for the 997 S with Aerokit :(

what spring did you use to lower your car with? Look real nice.

Hey Shawn,
I dont think the good shops use precut kits... and they tuck/hide most seams.
I am getting my speedart bumper done this week.

Do it! You will regret it if you dont and end up repainting your bumper.
