Two flats on the 19's so far ...
First flat was a new rear tire, only 550 miles on the car and I hit a piece of road debris on the highway at night. Ripped a huge hole in the sidewall :mad:
Second was last night, Cut across a median to catch an exit I almost missed, it was completely pitch black and I hit a nice sized pothole and tore a small chunk out of my drivers side rubber and now a bubble is forming:rolleyes: no damage to the wheels thank god, but with PASM on doing around 60 it felt like hitting a brick wall. These roads are ****ty in FL, Like an obsticle course.:rolleyes: I bought hazard insurance for my wheels and tires, Not sure how many claims I can have in a year. I just got a flat in my S as well. Brand new tires, what a waste. Plus, its worse without a spare, you're just stuck wherever you are.

First one - Not your fault
The most recient - purely your fault (could have been much worse than a tire). Lucky it did not blow out on you. Cutting across a median is a bit of a bonehead move... Driving requires 110% attention all of the time Sorry, no sympathy on this one |
Median, i.e. white painted stripes showing where the pavement is divided, Not a concrete road divider. I also wasnt crying out for your sympathy, I am sure you have never hit a pothole in your life. At highway speed in complete darkness your line of sight is slightly limited. Although I love your brilliant deduction of the limited facts which allowed you to come to a conclusion of my guilt. I do however doubt if you were standing in front of me you would call me a bonehead to my face. You most likely would end up on the ground.

These rim protectors seem to work great, They saved me from some pretty serious curb rash. I do notice the Pilot sport 2's seem ALOT softer rubber than the SO3's I had on my last 911.

I hit a HUGE pothole about July last year. I put a huge dent into the rim which was NOT fixable according to the wheel experts. I needed a new rim AND tire. That sucked. Glad to hear you were not hurt and that you don't need a new rim... |
I took a nail in my Michelin 19s. $550 to secure a new one and $149 for one hour of install at the local Porsche dealer, but they were the only ones with 19" tires in stock! Got my car up and running in one hour, I guess I have to pay for the convenience.
