Unexpected Dealer Visit

rant

Background information: 2006 Basalt Carrera S, received back from body shop about 2 weeks ago now, was in for repair to passenger side rear quarter panel and rear bumper replacement

Situation: Last week, while driving, my check engine light turned on but was not flashing. I called both dealerships (Park Place, and Boardwalk), Park Place said that it would reset itself and to check the usual suspects such as loose gas cap, low grade fuel, etc. I did all those. No dice. Finally two days later the light went away on it's own. Then today, I was making a run to CompUSA to buy something and the Warning Battery/Generator light went on. I called Boardwalk because I was closer and the SA Sydney hooked me up with a Cayenne (V6). I explained the situation and she said that perhaps the body shop (Stuart's) may have drained the battery. Since it was 1 hour to close, she said that Monday I should have my car back. Props to her though for getting me in a loaner so quick.

/end rant

Doesn't sound too bad... What happened that you needed body work in the first place?

Someone backed into my car. Her insurance was responsible.

Glad to see things turned out ok.

Chris, how did you know that? I don't recall posting any info on that.

I think you made a post about what you could do about it (i.e. bodywork, replace the panel, etc.). I just remember it was nasty - right along the fender well...

QUICK EDIT: I just noticed the thread I was thinking was actually Mishref's car: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ad.php?t=54565

Odd that it happened twice in such a short period of time...

I took my car to the bodyshop yesterday. They are also repainting my rims (curb rash). I have been driving a corolla to work; this thing is pure torture. I have enough time to read a magazine by the time the thing hits the speed limit.

Tell me what the dealer says about the CEL .. with my luck it might pop up as soon as i drive out of the body shop.

Good luck - nothing pains me more than to see the Carrera's sexy flanks marred by damage...

do you call that ranting! Come on you can do better than that. My spoiler is out of alignment and is scratching my engine compartment lid, there are small bolts and screws either on the inside of the engine compartment lid and holding the carpet to the rear wall that are rusting and staining the sand beige carpet; the car was delivered in January 2006; but the car runs great.

Sorry to hear that bro, dealer replaced my alternator under warranty, just picked up the car this evening. All is well that ends well.
