The 78 out to Lulian is an amazing road, of course, when no one is on it or traffic is light. You can always pull over and space out the traffic though. Palomar mountain is also amazing, but has gotten very popular and I heard they were now putting cops out there to nab people ripping up and down it...
Some of the roads out around Jamul are also very nice.

Lots of rural areas around SD County. Drives through Rancho Santa Fe are fun. The drive out Del Dios Highway and up to Ramona past Wild Animal Park is great. Anywhere out past Ramona towards Julian...you can head north at Dudley's Bakery in Santa Isabel towards Palomar Mountain.Old Highway 80 cutting south to Campo and then back west on Highway 94 is great. Cruising PCH through the beach towns is fun.

If you come up to South County OC by San Juan Capistrano, take Ortega Hwy. Great at night and around lunch for nice twisties

Yup, that's when the 78 is absolutly amazing. Stop in Julian for some good BBQ and a fresh slice of pie and then run it again
