Im planning on driving my 997 around the whole country in May. Has anyone done similar long trips? Are there any tips you can share? Any problems with 997 on such long drives?

Thanks in advance

I would love to do this. There's a guy here w/ a GT3 (red) who has done some major road trips with his 997S. He's also on Rennlist. Post this on the GT3 forum and I'm sure he'll respond. I'll bet he has some great roads to recommend.
cross country trip
hi,lucky you, i just drove to nyc and back about 3 months ago. couple of suggestions. get off the interstates, watch the bridges over the fwys. if you stay around route 66, i forget the roads but you can haul *** through texas, arizona, if you stay off the main hwys. i think it's easier to drive at higher speeds in the western part of the us then the eastern part. i got a picture of my speedo at 169mph thru texas. anyways, have fun.
done the northern, mid and the southern route (3 weeks each) as well as a round the world trip in 16 months. The more time you take the better, just stay grounded so that you wont go native and come back home. It doesnt matter wich route you take. Stay flexible buy a big jug of water and just get lost. I for one prefer the smaller roads vs the interstates.
Bring a camera, its a beautiful country...world... enjoy!!!

Road Trips are GREAT!!!
Did 4 x-country trips in the 997S with not a problem.
Longest days drive was just over 900mi, have traveled upon every road surface you can imagine, as well as all weather conditions from summer heat to cold (21°) and snow.
US Highways are recomended vs Interstates in my opinion.
Forget about fancy hotels...Best Western are just fine for a nights rest.
Detour thru any National Park that is along the route...The US is a most beautiful and varied landscape.
Best tip I have is to wear ear plugs, the little yellow foam ones work great.
Just take the edge off the road noise, there are good roads and very noisy roads, and drone you will encounter. After 8-10 hours of seat time, you will be glad you did.
Enjoy your drive!!
