Clear Bra - Whole Hood?

I guess there are many options for clear bra. Local shop is doing the whole hood if wanted. The film is not wide enough for a full fit to there is a small line in each top hood corner about 6 inches down. It probably looks better than the line across the lower part of the hood. Another option is to put the material on the whole front fender to avoid the line on the fender. Not sure I really want to go this crazy though.

Would like some thoughts and opinions on the best coverage to go with. I like waxing and occasionally polishing my ride and don't want film all over her. Has anyone just done the bumber and mirrors? How bad will she really get if I don't do the bra and put 36,000 on her over the next few years with no track days?

It's easy to get chips on all the frontal surfaces. I'd cover as much as possible. Precut kit is cheaper but custom wrap eliminate the lines on panels.

Downside with covering bumper is that if you get bumped, you'll have more expense since clearbra will need to be removed and presumably put on again. THIS adds the repair cost.

If I could rap the whole car in this stuff I would, but it is not practical. My car is a lease but I took the bra as high up as possible. I remember reading a thread where a rock cleared the lower part of the bra and smacked a guys hood just above the bra line...unfortunate but can happen. Do it you will feal safer.....

where in CA are you? the only place to get clear bra installed is with Premier Mobile in Fremont. Talk to Sam. There's a lot to consider, but he'll advise you correctly. I went with the custom install which involved removing the headlights, fogs, hood emblem, and side markers so that i didn't have any lines. Here's their info:

wk #: 510-406-1500 or 510-390-6920

good luck!

Thanks

Thanks for the advise. Nice pics Lardog. That is exactly what I am talking about. Let me ask you guys this. Now I am thinking about the whole hood, bumber, mirrors and headlights but leaving the fenders as is. How bad do these fenders chip up if left unprotected?

By the way I am in San Diego and was going to use Modern Image. They do a lot if highline stuff.

Thanks a million!

If you havn't done it since new... Get the hood done... Wait on the bumper till it's respray time and then get the clear bra done after the respray. Since the bumper is plastic, it really doesn't matter on the respray since it won't show up on a paint meter anyway. The key is to protect "metal" from needing a respray.

If you only have a few chips though maybe a body shop can custom mix, touchup and wet sand the repair and then you can get it done.

I'd stay away from Modern Image. Friend had his CGT done there and did not look good at all. Thumbs up to Premier over here in Cali. Best work I've seen around. There is also a thread floating around here about them doing whole cars on the 997tts.

After my first chip, I had clear bra installed on the front fender, side mirrors, and wheel wheels. I opted not to do the hood, b/c I actually like the feel of the paint (clear coat) when washing / waxing. I've resigned myself to the near certainty that the hood will get some chips over time. I'm okay with that.

Well if anyone in DC/MD/VA wants my service. holla cuz i do the whole hood not just 95%, covering the area left uncovered (ie lardog's car).
def worth every penny imho. saved me several times myself.

rightlook, whoever you go with, ask what the brand of clear film is that they use. Premier uses Ventureshield which IMHO is the best. i have friends that have not used Premier and gone with another brand of film, and every last one of them looks like crap.

also, Premier has covered entire cars with Ventureshield, including CGT, Ferrari Enzo, etc. they know their stuff.
