Making a 997 look more modern?
What kind of diffuser is that? It's awesome!!
PEPPER, I am nominating you for PCA President!!!!
The 997 is an ICONIC timeless classic!
The winged helmet representing the winningest football program in the country is similarly an iconic timeless classic!
I agree with both. The diffuser and the small spoiler look great. The spoiler looks just like a TechArt Type I. VERY NICE!
I wonder how both pieces would look on my car (Carrera White) with chrome TechArt exhaust tips?
Any opinions?

TA style diffuser is smaller like the pic below, we made that in carbon fiber. At the same time we're working on a bigger version like the one in 1st post.
So the only thing holding me back from placing an order on a 997S is the style looks kind of dated and not aggressive enough for me (younger guy).
I like the black with turbo wheels to help along the way, or a seal grey with black techart wheels may give it a good start.
But the back end is tough. I dont particularly like the GT3 wing so the aerokit option is kind of out and the aftermarket wings seem like a lot of money and hastle. The turbo wing is right up my alley, but doesnt look doable for the 997.
Any suggestions on how to make it more aggressive, but not overly ridiculous? I almost got a cayman because the back end is more modern, but felt the car was just too small for my tastes. The turbo looks pretty nice, but is starting to really push my budget (plus I have a community garage and would worry about it too much). So any great ideas?

How about this? It's got matte black (looks much lighter in this photo) vinyl checkerboard from the GT3RS, and a Misha GT2M Rear Spoiler, and 997TT wheels. Under the hood, it's got 530HP. Of course, it's also got my son's Porsche Tequipment Junior Latch car seat in the rear- now that's definitely cool!

That is a very good example of what can be achieved with a few minor mods. It is a white targa I believe. Verry Nice!
Most people, whether they are Car people or Non-car enthusiast types see a Porsche 911 and instantly recognise it as a 911. The silhouette of the 911 is the most recognisable form in auto-history and a quick glance at the evolution of the 'species' clearly shows why:

Mind you, these are of the Turbo series. The Carrera series is even more linear.
40 years of 911, 40 years of TRUE evolution; found only in the 911. No other manufacturers' designs comes close to matching the ICON that is the 911.
Contrast this to the ethos of other manufacturers, e.g., Japanese, that "Revolution" is evolution. I'm not saying one is better than the other as it is a matter of personal taste.
For example; I can jump into a 2010 Carrera and drive through a busy street and no one will really look at me; because the silhouette is so ubiquitous and familiar that people won't bother to turn their heads. It isn't a flashy, "Look at ME!" sort of car. Then at the end of the street, I can jump into a 1970 Carrera of the same colour and drive back up the street and most people wouldn't even notice I am driving a different car.
The advantage I see in this is the longevity of the design. You can own a 997 and its good looks will last 20+ years - so long as you take good care of it.
Sure, feel free to do bits here and there to 'personalise' your 997. Make it your own, don't follow the fashion 'fad' or trend. If this isn't to your tastes, to which I think you are not, the 911 style just isn't for you.
In my opinion the 911 cannot be made to look more 'Modern'. Neither can it be made to look more 'Classic'. Like great art works of the Masters I believe its form has transcended time & fashion and it exists as simply THE Porsche 911.
-- Good luck with your decision. Go with a true 'timeless' icon, you won't regret it

PS- OH MY GOSH. I just realised that this thread is ANCIENT. Unlike 911s, forum threads age very quickly!
