997s Big Reds vs. Audi RS4 Ceramic Brakes!!!...
Hi! Today I bought a Magazine where the make some test to Audi´s ceramics brakes of the RS4 Cabrio and the Avant vs. the 997 Targa 4s Big Reds...
They accelerate the from 0 to 200km/h......then they brake in maximum mode to 60km/h and accelerate again to 200km/h 20 times non stop!!!!
Big reds were perfect up to 19 times!!!!!!! without fade....just in the last time (20) they show soma fade but they stil brake hard......
RS4 Cabrio was using Audis normal brakes (steel)....and th just could brake perfect for 12 time.....they were completely dead at 15 time........
RS4 avant with Ceramic brakes brakes perfect up to 15 times....then the were too averheated and ther loose any pedal feel al 18 time........
I cant imagine howgood are PCCB if Big Red are so good compare to Audi´s Ceramic Brakes!!!!!!!
sorry about my english.....

Interesting comparison; however, I'm not too surprise by the outcome, as the Cabrio and Avant are considerably heavier than the Targa 4S...IIRC. I think Audi's brakes are designed for street and spirited driving; not for track use like Porsche.

The Avant is heavier and has a higher center of gravity than a porsche. Worst of all the bulk of the weight is on or forward of the front axle. I bet my wife could wear out those front brake pads in an Avant in three months. And thats street driving no track days.
No doubt that Porsche's braking systems are good but the reason the cars have some of the shortest stopping distances in the business is the rear weight bias. The only front engine cars that are in the same league without using huge ridiculous calipers/rotors are BMWs because of their near perfect weight distribution. On the track I get outbraked in my STi with 4 piston Brembos by E46 M3's with their single piston calipers and the same size rotors.
