I need a C6 Z06..

Well guys, it's that time again! I am ready for another track car/DD! T

Here is my problem, I am looking for a 07-08 C6 Z06 for mid-low 40's. I know longer I wait, cheaper they get so should I wait for a 08 because of the 6060R or Take a T-56 and let the games begin?

BTW, I broke 3 T-56's in 5k miles last year....

Has anyone driven a C6Z06 T-56 and a 6060R? Any pro's or con's?

Just broke 2nd gear on a 6060,the trans is stronger but still needs upgraded.

whats a t-56 and 6060?

Personally, I'd recommend a '06 over an '07 or '08. The '07's seems to be pre-disposed to needle-bearing/rocker arm failures and the '08's seem to having a lot of failures with their TR6060 trannies. Just make sure the '06 has had the roof recall taken care of. It's an easy fix that should cost you nothing.

Out of curiosity, in what car did you break (5) T56's? I only ask because the T56 in the '06 Z is known to be very durable. I can't recall hearing of any that have broken.

Regardless of what year you get, if you are that worried about breaking the tranny, I'd recommend doing what I did and installing a built T56 from RPM Transmissions. You can also swap out the extremely long 5th and 6th gears for a optimized close-ratio setup (highly recommended). Info here: http://www.rpmtransmissions.com/levelvt56.html

Mines obviously a different unit. But I blew my T56 two years ago. Finished it off with two seasons of driving without a 5th or 6th gear.

Then upgraded to RPMs stg. 4 transmission. Worked out very well, no issues of yet! Hard to believe people are already breaking TR6060s. Parts must be impossible to get right now..

Ive already broke/rebuilt my TR6060

Ive already broke/rebuilt my TR6060... make em lighter, stronger, faster hilarious

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3208069/2 pan down for carnage:p

BUT, that was b/c too much clutch/too much traction... welded the clutch to flywheel and pretty much distroyed sync's going to second w/ clutch suck to flywheel... I ran a 26 at 26mph... I was 'that guy' at the track.

Those would be transmissions, both manufactured by Tremec a division of Transmission Technologies Corporation.. Mostly used in american muscle cars, i.e. Mustangs, Camaros/Trans Am, Corvettes, Vipers, etc....

Read up on it here ----> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tremec

The 6060's don't like to be shifted during wheel spin either, and its right in the owners manual of the corvette. They are a good trans but not alot of mods can be done to them like the t56.

I think I'm in the same boat as you. I was looking around primarily for a nice 996tt but my friend and I went out to lunch today and discussed the pros and cons of the 996tt, a HPF M3, and a z06 and well I think we decided on a z06... :P

It was a Z06? 4k track miles = 30k miles...haha

Not that "my" miles are any better...

tommygun 06-12-2009 10:20 AM

yes a Z06 lol

it had brand new brakes, tires, ect... the only sign of it being a track car was the rub marks in the leather from the racing harnesses.

oh and im sure the nose was a repaint as most C6 cars seem to have "soft" nose paint and chip when a fly lands on them hilarious
