Eeek!! "Service Engine Now" light came on...
The "service engine now" light came on, the text said something like "visit workshop"... Came on other day under agressive driving in Sport mode. Called dealer service, said a solid light meant car was OK to drive but to bring it in (a flashing light would be a major problem). Just heard back from tech, and is a bad ignition coil, now being replaced along w/ all the spark plugs...
Car is at 3300 miles, other than this never had a problem... Anyone else see this issue on 997's or Turbo's?

Check engine light
997 turbo's and GT-3 have had "secondary air pump" failures which lights up the same yellow check engine light. This fault is a emission error, it has to do with a secondary air valve which supplies excess air to the catalytic converters. There are two valves, one for each converter.
Yes - thankfully just the ignition coil and plugs... Picking up car in the morning, will ask the technician about the engine drop.
I just had the same thing happen but it was on my 2002 C4S with 67,000+ miles on it. Had the plugs changed when I had the 60,000 mile service done. Car was missing all the time on one cylinder and irregularily on 3 others so I had all 6 coil packs replaced. Funny thing is both my mechanic and the Porsche dealers service manager said coil packs on Porsches rarely go bad but it happens quite often on Audis. Interestingly enough I had just accelerated hard coming onto the road from a parking lot and about 3 miles later the light came on. I'm picking up the car Monday and can't wait to get back into it. Glad yours is running again, Doug
