Just got the new Excellence Mag and read throught the tuned 997 TT, and noticed that GMC stated that the turbo chargers are only good for 550HP. I remember reading about that in last month issue as well from another tuner.

Hmm...I don't get it. If both tuners are saying that the turbo charges are only good for 550HP, why are we seeing cars with OVER 600HP on stock turbos? I think some cars are even getting around 700HP. How is that done?

Any thoughts?

 

those cars have modified compressor wheels on the factory vtg turbo

 

They could mean 550whp is the limit? Or like rbc997t said, the turbo's that are making 600-700hp are probably not using completly stock turbo..They are probably modified.

 

They meant the stock turbos.
