Just ordered a new 997tt cab.... a few questions
Hi everyone,
I just ordered a 997tt Cabrio... guard red, with all black leather interior and red stitching... Can't wait to recieve it... production is in may so i should have it in early june.
I have a few questions...
what is the best or recommended way to break in the engine?
I am thinking of ordering the fabspeed 997tt performance package (air intakes, exhaust, headers, etc...) Is that the way to go or would you recommend looking at other specific mods?
Once car arrives, pics will be posted.
Thanks

The fabspeed package is great IMO.
As far as break-in, it's been discussed a 100 times. Do a search. IMO I say drive it hard from the get go. Dont be afraid of the red but dont keep it in there for teh first 2000 miles either.

Take a few extended road trips. The optimal break in is to vary the RPMs, vary the gears, dont lug the engine in low RPMs, dont do full throttle. But this has been debated for so long that its mostly just a peace of mind question.
Dont go overboard, watch out for the rev limiter, and for at least the first couple of hundred miles avoid the urge to floor it all the time.

I followed the book most of the time with several revs to 5000..
Its tough in the first 3 gears not to get the revs up at anytime since they go up so fast.
WHat will be fun for the first 2000 miles is getting on a nice road in 5th or 6th gear at 4500 rpms,, or going in 4 or 5 from 2500 to 4500.. you will get the rush and still be within the break in range.
2,000 miles comes fast when its new and in a month or so you ll be broken in.

I shamelessly admit that I somewhat ignored the break in procedures but overall was kind to the engine . I basically pampered it with and occasional sprint .
As for Fabspeed etc. I have a different setup and I do suggest a search of exhausts and various performance packages. Most are very pleased with their choices and that actually makes the decision harder .
I love mine. It was posted here .
