AMG 6/4 piston calipers vs Brembo 6/4 piston monobloc calipers

Dear all,

I am wondering what are the differences between the AMG 6 and 4 piston calipers and the monobloc 6 and 4 piston calipers by Brembo? They look identical to me but the AMG ones are said to be developed by themselves? Will I get any benefits upgrading from the AMG 6/4 piston calipers to the Brembo Monobloc 6/4 piston ones? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

sqml is infamous around these parts
They're basically the same calipers. The only difference is the AMG have bigger caliper housing and different piston bore size.

The stock AMG brakes are made by Brembo. They look/function differently because the manufacturer has different needs than the what the aftermarket has. Also the stock brakes are not as good asthe aftermarket brembo systems.

why is that though? i can understand it for a regular car, but for an AMG why would the put brakes that arent as good?

Most likely because they have to meet different standards, and liability issues. Its kind of like stainless steel brake lines, they are better but they are not DOT approved.
