997TT - Drivetrain Loss
997TT - Drivetrain Loss
I've been pouring over dyno sheets from various tuners and found a great disparity in drivetrain loss factors. We all realize that these drivetrain loss factors don't mean too much as we are really concerned more about getting the power to the pavement.
However, for giggles, I'd like to have a decent estimate for crank hp/torq and would like to hear if there is any generally acceptable number.
I've seen them range from 12% loss to 19% loss. That leads to a pretty big crank hp range.
Any commonly accepted number among the tuners et al.?

Never compare the dyno sheets between different dyno machines.Make non sense. As some experts mention before you can adjust the dyno system show what ever you like so there are bit cheats in it.
I believe from the crank to your tires. The power loss would be around 17%-18% for an AWD 997TT. A standard 480hp car should show around 380-390 awhp on an accurate & "No drama" mustang dyno machine.

As above, about 18-20%. I had mine dyno'd at F-L on their dynodynamics at about 470hp to the wheels, that same day they dyno'd a bone stock 08 with 395hp. So, if you calculate it out, it's about 20% loss. That puts me at about 550-580 crank hp.
