DC Performance: Mile-High SuperCHARGER Build
DC Performance: Mile-High SuperCHARGER Build
It seems like a lot of our Viper clients have Hemi-powered toy/daily drivers in their stable, so I thought we'd post this up for those that are interested...
Over the past couple weeks, we've had the pleasure of getting our hands dirty with this project... The client and car live in Colorado, so the car would have to be accommodating to the effect the altitude would have on the performance/tuning.
The goal would be to achieve 600 crank HP in a daily-driveable tune which is geared specifically for high altitude. On top of the performance, the client requested we beef up some of the suspension components to eliminate the body roll which is a problem in the larger, LX-platform cars.
To give the power he was looking for, we immediately pointed him in the direction of the Vortech "off-the-shelf" kit. We are a top-tier installer for Vortech and we knew that the kit coupled with our custom, in-house tuning, we'd be right where we wanted to be.
To add a little more "umph", we also added the American Racing headers and coupled those to a set of high flow catalytic converters and a magnaflow catback with no mufflers. While definitely increasing the average horsepower in the bottom and middle range of the rev range, we found that the headers freed up enough breathing room that we actually LOST a pound or so of boost and couple HP in the very high range of the power band. We are very confident with a little more boost, we'd still be well within the "comfort zone" of the motor and increase a decent amount of horsepower.
To eliminate that pesky body roll, the car was equipped with the Hotchkis sway bar set.
On to the pictures..
