Question Opinions on racing helmet and fire extinguisher

Looking to track my car this season maybe half a dozen times. Car will be my daily driver 88 911, thoughts on a fire extinguisher that really would do the job if needed and a helmet for comfort and safety. Any favourites I'm just trying the DE and autocross events? Thanks in advance
Cheers

You need to find out what the minimum requirements are for a helmet from the organizations you plan to track with. It's likely to be Snell which changes specs every 5 years. If Snell, I'd go for 2005 as new 2010 regs will be coming out soon. The next most important thing is fit. Helmets, like heads, come in different shapes and sizes. There is no substitute for trying on a variety of helmets to find best fit. Its needs to be snugger then you might expect. If you wear eyeglasses, the size of the eyeport can be important. When you try one on that seems O.K. leave it on for at least 15 minutes. In my experience, hand held extinguishers are pretty useless although I have one in my car because it is required by some organizations. I have a 2-1/2# Halatron.

Thumbs up Can a motorcycle helmet do double duty?

Thanks for your suggestions I'll look into that regarding the helmet can a motorcycle helmet do double duty on the track? And what are the top three options or necessities in a track helmet? The halon extinguisher I saw on Ebay and now that you mention it that will probably be the way to go. Thanks

Look at Arai helmets, but most importantly, try the helmets on! Do NOT get a motorcycle helmet, those are designed for single impact events.

Play it safe and survive

M rated motorcycle helmets will not pass tech inspection in most DE events. Get an SA2005 helmet. You should be concerned with fit and weight. Most people prefer closed helmets. i use an open one made by BELL and its pretty good. When I progress up the ranks I will move to a closed version.

A fire extinguisher is usually not required in the lower, beginner class groups. There are a few exceptions, like NY Metro PCA I believe

Good luck

I have a Bell BR-1 and I really like it. It fits MY head.
As has been said, YOU need to try them on to find the brand that best fits YOUR head.
Price is also a huge factor.......
No motorcycle helmets, you will never pass tech.
SA 2005 or 2010
