I was reading the local paper and found an article about a local guy who was charged with speeding/careless b/c of an online post on one of the Beemer enthusiast sites. Apparently he bragged about doing 140km/h in a 50km/h zone. The article indicated that he was traced by checking his online moniker and they then got his ip address and other technical gobbledygook and were able to charge him. I think there's more to this story than was posted b/c there was something about a package sent to the police from the US - perhaps some snitch evidence or something. There must have been local complaints too to initiate all this but I don't know the details. But the guy is on probation for a year and lost his licence for 6 months basically caught by an online post.
Good thing the vids on this board are from "south of the border"

Pretty crazy for sure. This had been talked about quite a bit on a local Porsche forum here and one of the guys went through the original thread and summarized a few interesting points:
"Seems the police had local eyewitnesses that after going door to door in the neighbourhood, came forward about the incident in question - securing the conviction. "
"This 18 y.o. kid had his 500 BHP car for only a few weeks prior to posting his accomplishment of doing 140 in a 40kmh zone (with complete details on the day/street/city name of where he did it). Rather than getting the expected hero-worship replies, he gets (appropriately) lambasted by the M5 crowd, who last fall, saw a similar teenager owner post similar boasts, only to crash his M5 with 4 other occupants, removing 5 young people from this earth in the process. "
"Early on in his 24 page thread, he talks about how he dislikes driving while he's high, and doesn't do it very often ?!?. "
"a week after his initial post, he throws up another thread announcing he'd crashed his M5 into a pole, but able to correct most of the damage in a friends garage with $5K worth of parts (without having to report anything to police/insurance). "
Sounds like they might have gone out of their way to make sure this guy got what he deserved - maybe for his own good.

Wow.... I guess I must come forward with the truth now. I'm only posting other peoples' data pretending it to be mine. I don't really own a 997tt either. I make my living as a fictional writer involving stealth modding of cars and when their spouses find out all hell breaks loose. It will be an upcoming late night TV series right behind "Cheaters".
lol, I was thinking the same thing. Uh yes, I'm really only 14yrs old and don't even have my licence, just wanted to hang with the cool kids on this forum.
JT, I hadn't seen that other thread and didn't know those details. Shameful behaviour for sure and I'd have to say it sounds like he deserved to be caught for such recklessness.
