Fikse FM-5

So I finally got tired of the techno chrome finish of my Fikse FM-5's, After serious debate and numerous opinions I decided to take them apart and send the centers out for powdercoating. I went with Gunmetal.
What do you think? sorry about the crappy I-Phone pics.

Before pic of complete wheel.

before pic of wheel centers after disassembly.

Thanks for the kind words. I'll post pics after I polish the rims, put the centers in, and mount the tires back on this weekend.

I torqued them to 30ft/lbs and placed a few drops of medium strength blue Loctite to each of the 20, 11mm grade 8.8 bolts on each wheel.

This is a pic of one of the wheels in natural light. Looks a lot darker.

While I was reassembling the wheels I noticed a few very fine cracks on the inside barrel of one wheel. I sent it out to my wheel guy and he had it back in two days.
I need to mount the tires and put them on the car.
Stay tuned for an update.

Word of Caution

Powdercoating a forged component is not to be taken lightly.
Powdercoating requires a significant heat soak for the curing of the powder.
If the cure temperature exceeds 350 degrees fahrenheit for more than 30 minutes, you could "anneal" the heat treating of the part and weaken it.
Therefore, powdercoating forged, heat-treated components should only be attempted by experts who know what they are doing, and have considerable experience with heat-treated metals.
