OK so.....maybe this does not exist on the planet and further time is a waste......but any ideas certainly welcome.
I've been away from the track for a few yrs....want to get back this yr and I need a seat upgrade (both driver & passenger). I use to run 5 point with my street seats but that's no longer allowed in some of the run groups. Yes the car has roll bar and then some.
Obviously there's a ton of great race seats out there.....but it's not that simple. I drive to & from the tracks and for those weekends......my wife loves to come along just to get away, stay in nice hotel, read, go out to eat.
She would not be able to get in & out of a race seat any longer (the high seat side bolsters) because of current physical limitations.
I have contacted both Recaro & Sparco to see if 5/6 sub could be custom made in the Speed S or Torino 2 respectively......but no go. The upholstry shops I've talked to have not instilled confidence their work would be acceptable.

Am I missing a seat out there somewhere.....that does not have high side seat bolsters......yet the 5/6 point sub?

Welcome back to the track! In looking back at my own challenges to having a Porsche for street/track use; I find that it makes it a more enjoyable experience when the compromise is achieved.

Regarding seats; have you looked at the Porsche GT style seats? They have a side bolster, but are offered for daily use and have the shoulder belt slots and airbags.

Recaro makes a seat that has the shoulder belt cutouts, but would need a trip to an upolsterer for the sub belt cutout.

 

Yes....there are GT/Sport seats to choose from (I noted two good ones) but none of these are usable without significant upholsterer work.


Since no upholsterer has sounded particularily confident to me.....I was still hoping to find either:

• A race seat (6 point) without high seat bolsters

Or

• A Sport/GT seat that had the 5/6 sub opening

Quite possibly what I am seeking does not exist.
