Stepping up!

For as long as I remember (I just turned 30), I have salivated over the 911. It has never been practical to own a two door for me, so I never took the plunge. Now that my wife is 9 months pregnant with our first, I can't imagine a better time!!

I'm coming from an RS4 which is a fantastic car, so I'm only going to trade if I'm really upgrading in performance. Therefore, I'm thinking of getting a gently used TT. I'm starting to do a lot more research. Like everyone else, I'm looking for the best bang for the buck (well - not EVERYONE else). In terms of value, what year 997 should I be looking for? Should I concentrate on CPO or put warranty on it myself? Are their known issues that I should keep an eye out for?

Also - not that this is a big consideration (I will probably buy a DD or keep the RS4), but how practical are the rear-seats? Will I be able to get my little one back there? This will not be a daily driver but on occassion, I wouldn't mind throwing the family in for short spurts. Also, while she is in a car seat, is there any hope of throwing that in the back/front???

Thanks all!
