DME Scan on a new 997 TT

Do you recommend getting a DME scan for over-revs on a new, never titled, non-demo 911 Turbo with 20 miles? Do you think it's unreasonable to request that the dealer furnish this info? I am wondering what if someone may have taken the car out for a test drive and over-revved the engine before the effective warranty date... It might be crazy if true and I could imagine the hassle of finger pointing at the warranty service visit...

Thanks.

Bit extreme I would think... But why not. Costs nothing, and its a 2 minute job. Hook it up, navigate navigate, read the display, end.
PDK or Manual? There are few things they can do to a pdk.

Too much paranoia about DME - would you ask for a DME scan on a new M5 or R8 or any other high performance car - if your answer is yes then you'll probably want one for your 997.

That exactly is right....I wonder what people did up until last year when all of a sudden this DME trend took off. I have yet to hear of any motor grenading here on this or for that matter any other forum. Btw,ever heard of people DME'ing other exotics before buying them

The funny part is, people here on the forum think anything with type 3 or 4/5 over revs, the motor is going to explode anytime.. What they fail to understand is, Porsche still CPO these cars even with type 5 over revs... Go figure...

I'd vote this to be excessive. If you don't trust your dealer to not go joyriding in your brand new car, then you shouldn't be working with that dealership anyway.

Tuners raise the redline well into cat4 range with no issues. The engine is solid. I had less than 1sec worth of range4 on mine, it was CPO'd, didn't think twice. Hans at RUF/RAC did the PPI and said most of the DME hype is BS.
