Carbon fiber question

Hi All,

I have had an 09 TT for the last couple of months that the original owner put in an OEM carbon fiber multi-function steering wheel. I am driving around this winter and have noticed that every now and then when I am getting out of the car and holding the wheel I get what feels like an electric discharge. It is very dry here in the winter, so I am assuming that this is just buildup of static electricity. I guess that otherwise it is a significant grounding fault for the wheel. Any ideas? Is this the carbon inserts? Does anybody have other funny experience with these wheels?

This is me, takes about two days to get looking like this from clean with the freeze thaw cycles around here.
Can hardly wait for some consistently dry roads.
Cheers,
Simon

Not sure if it's CF specific, but dry cold weather definitely gets the static electricity going. I get zapped when the conditions are like that.
