GT2 customer wanted more options & more power from his 670hp GT2 Top Speed Project

GMG has a customer who might end up on the show Intervention for his addiction to Porsche 997 GT2s. In fact, he currently has 3: a pristine black GT2, a red GT2RS, and now a white GT2.

His other GT2s:

Black GT2:

Red GT2RS:

New GT2:

This particular vehicle will be built for Top Speed racing as the customer enjoys running road rallies at over 200 mph (these are closed road, not gumball style). Having tuned his previous two 997s with GIAC and GMG, the customer was a bit underwhelmed by the power and “switchability” of his recent 670hp acquisition. So he decided to have GMG bring it to us for some additional software massaging. Prior to arriving, GMG Racing outfitted one of their World Challenge Race exhaust systems to the vehicle for maximum breathability. GMG did not remove any of the previous hardware upgrades beyond that.

The calibration results are impressive. The GT2 gained an additional 37 horsepower and 24 foot pounds of torque at the rear wheels on 91 octane fuel. This was a sizable gain on an already tuned car considering the limitations of 91 octane fuel. With GIAC’s switching system now in place, we next turned to 104 octane race mode tuning. This is where the car really came alive, gaining 148 horsepower and 85 foot pounds of torque at the rear wheels over the previous calibration. Race mode brought the total output to 685 wheel horsepower and 610 foot pounds of torque. For those doing the math, that is approximately 700hp on 91 octane and 830 horsepower on 104 octane at the crank. There is more power to be made, but it will have to wait for upgraded engine internals. Look out for more updates on this car as GMG is making a great deal of changes to it in the coming weeks and the result will definitely be fantastic!
