Oakley Exhaust for 997.1 TT 6 speed

Friends - I did the search but did not come up with any valuable intel, so checking in wit the team. Going to do a little tuning - Softronic+ Exhaust. My guy has a left over (New in box) Oakley titanium exhaust (which I think weighs something like 15lbs). Tells me its very close to the FVD sound which I really enjoy.

Oakley is bankrupt apparently - so my downside is I buy, and that is the end of story - no support from the manufacturer. The upside is, I get a very expensive exhaust on the cheap. I do enjoy those types of trades and am OK to live with the risk that a cat goes and I need to figure out a fix for that.

However, I really could not find any youtube vids of the exhaust on a Porsche, just a bunch of Lambo and Ferrari.

So just curious to get the opinion from the guys in the know- any experience with the exhaust? worth the risk? or go with the FVD?

Thanks in advance
Rich

I'm interested in hearing about this. How much discount are we talking about? Does he have any more? If you don't end up pulling the trigger, please PM me and I'll take it. If you do buy it, post pics and videos.

I would not touch anything to do with Oakley further more why would you put you money into something that has no back up!

Just go with an FVD stage 2 package and be happy like I was for 3 years and 30k miles.

Do you have any reasoning behind you opinion, or is it just because Oakley is going out of business? I understand not buying a tune from somebody that is going pout of business, but exhaust is not really that concerning to me. A full TI exhaust at a heavy discount isn't something that comes along every day. The only reason I haven't tried to buy one is because the tubing is 2.5".

1. 2.5" tubing you need 3"inch for performance,

2. I remember reading somewhere they were made in China or Taiwan,

3. the bends from memory from the cats to the muffler were not great for flow reasons,

4. If the welds crack it doesn't matter how cheap it is you will have to pay more out of your pocket,

5. the guy went bankrupt and ended up owe-ing a lot of money to customers so anything to do with Oakley makes me cringe.

I love titanium and carbon etc etc exotics materials but don't let that blind you!

If you offered it to me for $500 I would still turn it down.

I would rather buy the FVD/M-M titanium for full price

Some good feedback. Another senior member had this to add:

Hi I have never heard of Oakley for the Turbo. I would think it's safer to go with familiar choices as there are many at the $4000 mark. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Very fair point.
