Moving to Denver from Houston - shop recommendation?

As the title says - I am moving to Denver in a month or so...

I am looking for a good shop in the Denver area that works on Pcars.

Also - I am currently catless and would like to stay that way in CO - is that possible?

Thanks
Ryan

Ryan,
Welcome to the "high" country, so to speak! There are several good independent shops but I've settled on 3Zero3 Motorsports in Wheat Ridge as they have relationships with several national tuners. They are currently removing the cats and installing test pipes on my car which will also necessitate recalibrating the ECU for the reduced back pressure but they have it under control. I live 150 miles west of Denver where there are no emission testing requirements. I'm not sure if they still have them in Denver but 3Zero3 should be able to provide you with the info/service you need. Speak with Max. See you at the track, maybe? Best,

I seriously doubt you'll pass emissions without a cat in CO, sorry! I passed emissions a couple of months ago with 100 cell cats and my readings were almost all well within limits, but there were a few that were pushing the upper limits that almost failed me. I have quite a few other modifications, but the cats probably have the biggest impact on the emissions. What other mods do you have? Have you done an emissions test since you installed any/all of them, and if so, do you still have the results? If so, I can compare them to my results since I saved them and see how your numbers look.

One bit of good news is CO doesn't do dyno runs with our cars but just does the tail pipe sniffer tests, and those don't tend to read as high. Make sure you take you car for a spirited drive before the test, and go first thing in the morning when they open so there's no line so your cats don't have a chance to cool down. The hotter your cats are, the easier it is to pass since they'll burn off more pollutants.

As for shops, there are a few good independents around. Here's a couple I've used and would recommend:
Autosport Werks in Broomfield
I'm drawing a blank on the second one even though I've been there at least a dozen times, but it's a little southeast of the Sheridan exit off 285. They do inspections for the PCA track days. Somebody on here will be sure to remember where my brain is failing me in my old age!
