Oops-

I dropped a hex adapter (small) and a rear tail light screw into the engine compartment. They are lost and I can't find them. Will these do any harm?

Depends where they went!

 

They will likely just be sitting on one of the lips or ledges in the engine bay. When you fire up your engine and/or drive it, they will most likely rattle loos and fall out.

If you are concerned, I would pop off the air box and you can see most everything...Then use one of the magnetic telescoping probes and fish around, and when you get near them it will snap them up...Unfortunately, I do this all the time

Try tapping on the underside of the rear bumper. Every time I dropped something down there, that's where it ended up. When I tapped it, it fell right out.
