$125 bulb?

Thought i'd share a little experience today that some folks here might benefit from.

I got an error today "check brake light" on my 997.1tt. Having experienced this a few times with my previous cpo'd 997.1c2 I figure I'd swing by the Pacific Porsche (socal) dealer on my way into work they'd switch out the dead bulb in a jiffy free of charge. Can I do it myself? Yes. Am I lazy? Yes.

However upon requesting a bulb change from the dealer they tell me this isn't covered under warranty and I gotta pay for it. I ask them if they had a record of switching out my bad rear fog light bulb on this very same car, for free, not three months ago. They say yes. I given them a puzzled look. Nothing. So, how much will it cost me? They tell me $125. I collect myself then proceed to inform them that u can buy not one, but two of these bulbs at auto zone for $5. They tell me labor is included. I laughed. I told them although the deal sounds good, I'd have to pass.

In short, swung by Autozone on my way home and grabbed a twin pack of bulbs (for $4.99). It took quite literally 90 seconds and a phillips screwdriver to switch out the bad bulb... and I did it in the Autozone parking lot =).

Any buyers for my spare bulb? I'm asking $125 for it =)

This reminds me of the time the Honda dealership wanted to charge me 384 dollars to replace an oxygen senor. The bulk of that cost was charging 1.5 hrs of labor for 15 mins of work (the o2 sensor was easily accessible from the engine bay) . I wanted to punch the SA in the face. I limped my car home and ordered that **** online.

It's too bad you are a bit south of us in Pasadena - but if you are ever in the area and happen to have that mishap again - swing on by, or give me a call - we'll take care of ya.

Since we are on the discussion of stealerships do you think 3 1/2 hours of labor makes sense to install seat belts?
