geting the jump on rroll racing

Hello every body

I have noticed in rroll racing that if the opponent hits the gas faster than you and gets the jump , its un possible to catch him even if your car is a lot more powerful . What are your thoughts and real world experience about it ?

Hi,

Right down my alley. Not true, it will all depend on the power to weight ratio, tranny and gearing. There are also a lot of variables, as driver mod. For example, a buddy of mine and I went down to Mexico for some runs...he has a 2013 Shelby with 700 rwhp and a similar torque figure. We rolled at about 50-60mph, I was in my power band boosted in 2nd gear and he was in 3rd at 3k rpm in his power band, he took the hit and I rapidly passed him and continued to pull on him. He is a pretty good driver and I consider myself ok also, this race was won on power to weight. We raced several times the same way and the outcome was the same. Again there are a lot of variables to consider.

Regards,

Manuel

I've probably done a thousand airstrip roll races. As these get more common, people are getting more experience are getting better and better on the start.

But back in the early days it was hard to get the start right.

On cars with similar HP to weight ratio with similar traction and similar transmissions, getting the jump can make all the difference. Otherwise too many variables like Boosted TTS says.

You can use rolling anti-lag to help get into power quicker but there's nothing you can do if you're racing a car with similar power/weight and they get a good jump. Try catching a car that out 60' you at the drag strip by .5 seconds and see how long it takes you to catch them even if you out trap them by 20+mph.

thanks everybody for the answer

longboarder , since we have both pdk (but different cars ) what do you suggest is the best mode for roll ? manual vs auto ? Psm off or on ? I have noticed that with psm off the boost is stronger too

I keep in sport plus PSM off and manually shift to hold second gear and I am trying to continue to accelerate slowly up to the cones so I'm in boost not vacuum when it is time to go WOT.

When stock there was a long delay (maybe half a second) from when I went wot to when the car actually accelerated. But after getting the tune and exhaust I have no delay / no turbo lag.
