Does anyone know for certain what the 2012 turbo s cab got for a muffler system? A picture of a 2012 or 2013 turbo or turbo S muffler section would be extremely helpful!

I recently purchased a 2012 turbo S cab. There is a tubi style exhaust on the car. While I'm sure it is desirable (google shows that it sells for $4,500) and I certainly appreciate its build quality I would like to find a stock exhaust for the car. This isn't my first 997.2 turbo S and not only did I prefer the less obnoxious output of the stock system but I think the stock car spooled faster (possible?).

The problem is that I can't decipher what the stock muffler system was! It seems the system changed somewhere along the line. I think I remember my 2011 having the boysen exhaust with two chambers connected at the middle like this...



...but my local dealer suggests that it calls for the strait across, triangular, less impressive looking type, like this...

Your dealer is correct - it's the smaller, triangular muffler.

 

That's awesome news since it's much cheaper than the dual chamber system!

It's surprising that the system became what (only?) looks to be less sophisticated in the 997.2 compared to the system in the original 997.1
Also, I could swear that my 2011 S cab had the dual chamber system but I suppose I should trust the guidance of my dealer and John@SpeedTech- so thank you very much!

 

Like a number of owners, I replace the stock system on my 2012 model 997 Turbo S with a Europipe set.

I'd email Stef or Herman - stef@europipe.be and ask them for help. They stripped out so many of the old ones.. They must have some pictures.

I sold my nearly new stock set for $1,200 on ebay... Try looking there
