Congrats to Dodge! With a pushrod engine, steel chassis, rwd, front engine and manual transmission. Absolutely amazing, just shows how much tires and aero come into play.

Impressive particularly in an age of DCTs, turbos and AWD. I believe the ACR is sold with Sport Cup 2 tires on it, a similarly sticky tire on the other cars mentioned would probably turn things around a bit. On that note this makes the Z07 package Z06 seem so much less impressive, though it is indeed another fast machine.

 

The G5 ACR is sold with a specially developed Kuhmo tire that is said to be faster than "most racing tires." Yes, its a definite advantage over even the PSC2. But that's what kind of rubber it takes to handle the aero.

 

Just goes to show how much aero and tires play into lap times. The ACR's specially designed Kumhos are somewhere in the area of a 20 treadwear rating tire and closer to being a slick than a street tire! That said, still an impressive work of art. Now if only they offered a "race car" version where you could get a cage, fire suppression, racing seats, harness, etc from factory.
