Horn Replacement DIY?
Horn Replacement DIY?
My horn sounds like it belongs on Pee Wee Herman's bicycle and I would have to assume it is broken because there is no way Porsche would sell at $150k car with this! Of course, considering how cheap some other parts are (don't get me started on my 996TT interior) maybe this was the way it was meant to be! But, assuming the first is there a DIY for replacing the horn? Not sure where to begin but I assume I would need to remove the front bumper.
Someone with direct knowledge will respond here I'm sure, but what I know is this:
1. 997 models use 2 horns. The lower tone one typically goes first and obviously you still have 1 of 2.
2. You need to remove the bumper to replace.
I investigated a while back as one of mine is out too...good thing I don't use the horn often because I don't feel like taking the front bumper off anytime soon. Maybe next spring.
The Rock on here has a DIY for front bumper removal...I am sure it is self explanatory to swap out the horns once you get the bumper cover off.

I figured as much. Just not sure which horn it is and I cannot believe either horn would sound like this. I mean they can't be serious. Maybe a good horn was a $5,000 option on the never ending options list!
