996TT to PTT to 997TT?

3 years ago I traded my 2002 996 TT towards my 2010 Panamera Turbo and now with the warranty coming to an end this year considering going to a 997 TT as my everyday driver. I work out of my house so my mileage is minimal. I don't plan on babying (it will see weather) the 997 so want to understand their reliability and maintenance issues compared to the 996 and the Panamera.

Any incite would be greatly appreciated!

997tts are really great reliable cars - but completely different then the ride the panamera turbo offers. More engaging, involved, etc.

Depends on your driving habits but I would not want to do with having 997tt as my 'only' car but it depends on personal situation and comfort with owning a 997tt and where you go.

What year 997 are you considering and manual or auto/pdk?

Have a 997tt, and just traded my 2010 PTT for the same reason - warranty expired. Frankly, I found the PTT is more practical for year round use and long trips - its just a bigger car. If you commute is limited, then perhaps not an issue

How do you guys compare the ptt performance with the 997TT ? I am afraid that 997.1 will feel like a dinosour after ptt

The 997 is less comfortable, and very basic from a electronics standpoint. The PTT felt faster , since I cant shift gears as quickly as the PDK. That said, the PTT is a sporty sedan, while the 997 is a sports car

The PTT is a great car from a performance and comfort standpoint but holding it without a warranty feels like a gamble. Their is a lot going on in a vehicle that weights 4500lbs and delivers its high level of performance.

My PTT has had its share of glitches (mechanically perfect so far, electronic issues) and has spent its fair share of time at the dealer.

The advice every Porsche enthusiast gives someone when buying one is to "buy the newest one you can afford". With all the technology Porsche is putting into their vehicles I feel it calls to question the long term reliability issues.

I have owned a Range Rover in the past that towards the end my ownership it was always in the shop for glitches and sensors going bad...real pain in the axx.

The 997TT seems to me to be the last of the simpler designs, am I right?

I like to think so too. Interested I your outcome. Thoughts on going to a simpler 2014 panny GTS?
