Apparent battery short circuit?? Please help.

I hope someone has an idea!!!! 2001 911 turbo 30,000, miles. Trickle charger flashed red but never turned green. When I tried to start car it was 100% dead everywhere. Not even a dash light anywhere. Driver door then would not close and latch to lift hood to replace battery is dead, as is engine hood latch. Are these latches electro mechanical?? Please let me know what I can do. Thanks

I did see a tiny clear plastic tube behind battery with black elbow insert connector that was not connected to anything. Anybody know what that was for?

Battery vent. Connect it! If you need a new battery, make sure the new one has a vent.
