Porsche Customer Service!

So I finally got around using the national Porsche website to comment on an issue I was having with my 2009 997TT carbon fiber console. For those of you that have it, the quality is not as I would have expected and after 5 years of ownership some cracks and de-laminating started to occur. I do want to eventually get it replaced, but these consoles can be expensive.

I sent a courteous letter (at least I thought it was) describing the situation and the fact that I could send pictures too. I simply asked if there was anything that they could do to help me out.

So I get this in response:

Dear Mr. (hiding my last name):

Nice. The carbon fiber package in my Cayenne GTS is perfect. Maybe just a bad run.

What a joke

Their CF parts in 997 era cars are known to have these issues.

Maybe they forgot to put an extra "0" on the offer, or mistook you for needing a glove box replacement on a Hyundai.

I would push further on this citing others having a similar problem.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting anything at all. Yes, in our cars it has been a known problem and perhaps my inquiry will add to some "internal" list. Regardless, I can't complain with what I got in the 2 minutes it took to send an email. I will follow up their email with close-up pictures so maybe that might put some emphasis on the issue.

Seems like a nice gesture on their part in my opinion...After 5 years they could just say thanks..buy another car.

While not optimal, from a 'glass half full' perspective...it is at least an attempt IMO.

Thanks for sharing.

Both the 996 and 997 consoles and dash parts are notorious for this kind of de-laminating.

Nice to see customer service helped a little, some dealers refuse to fix the issue.
