997.2 OEM car cover

Did a search on the Turbo side and the 997 side, so will pose my questions here (not sure if the 997 vs 997T covers are the same) . . . For the first time, I just covered my car with the OEM, outdoor cover and this is the first cover I have ever owned (I've bought many, many over the years), where I felt like I needed an owners manual!

I have had covers with "integrated" cover bags in the past, but they were shut in the trunk, a tie-down . . . I'm not thrilled to have a bag (with a zipper) hanging out on my hood. It does have a suction cup to "secure" it, I think I saw another thread where the recommendation is to suction cup it to the windshield. There is a "padded" side of the cover that would protect paint, so maybe I'm overthinking this. The mirrors have (what I can only describe as) elastic booties that surround and hold onto the side mirrors. I have never seen this feature before, by any make. My 996T cover just had side mirror pockets.

It is interesting that one can synch the bottom of the cover down to create a tighter fit, then a zipper (yet another zipper) at the bottom left corner to allow for an easy on-and-off application. I guess the questions that came to mind, is that there are flaps that open at the roofline, what are those for (vents?)? Then there is a small pocket at the rear of the car, what is that for? Then there are two, black elastic "ties" over the front wheels, what are those for??

As I mentioned, I have never had such a complicated cover and I feel dumb asking, but I also feel like I am missing out on some super-cool features! Finally, what's up with the logo??? Holy smokes, I didn't feel like a duesh driving a Porsche, but putting on the cover, I kinda do . . . That front logo . . . HaHa, thanks! KH

no idea what the hip pocket is for.

The flaps are vents. You don't wan't moisture to buildup underneath the cover. Lastly there are a number of ways to tie down the cover. In places like where I live, you would want to use all of them, and you'd be grateful for the elastic around the mirrors. If wind isn't ever a big deal, then it's overkill. Overall a good cover in my opinion.
