2001 M3 DSC module/ABS pump replacement questions

Hi,

I have a few questions on this. My current DSC module is bad and needs to be replaced. I have found a couple USED ones that have the exact same part numbers as mine, 34512229800. I think to replace it I need to remove the brake fluid, remove and replace the DSC module/ABS pump and then code the USED one with the VIN and VO info, possibly align the steering and bleed the brakes.

1) I have been seeing mixed info about coding the cars VIN into a USED DSC module. Can anyone confirm that this can be done? If so, what software and procedure if available to do it? I’ve seen it can be done with a BRAND NEW module, but mixed messages about doing it with a USED one.

2) My M3 has the DSC module on the passenger side of the car near the hood switch, not on the driver side, under the master cylinder like most. It is actually very easy to get to, nothing in the way at all. Due to not needing to mess with the master cylinder, is it still necessary to drain the brake fluid before removing the module/ABS pump, and then of course bleed the brakes upon completion?

3) The dealer wanted to sell me a repair kit, 34512229802. This looks like it is only the DSC module, not the ABS pump assy. If I wanted to replace just the DSC module from the USED DSC module/ABS pump I bought, could I do that while the pump is still left on the car? In that case do I still need to drain the brake fluid and then bleed the brakes upon completion? I’m not positive I can replace it while still mounted in the car, but it looks like it could be possible.

Thank you,
