997.1 Turbo/997.2 Turbo Intercoolers

Is there a significant difference between the 997.1 Turbo and the 997.2 Turbo Intercoolers. Thanks.

997.2's have better end tanks and more dense core fins. They work well as a road race intercooler below 1.6 bar or so. Quality aftermarket coolers make for better drag or highway pull intercoolers.

ehhh I have tried the upgrading intercooler path from GT2 sized up to 4.5", my advice is to just go right from stock to a big 4.5" or similar sized setup from a reputable vendor.

If on a budget it is not a bad idea to consider the do88 3.5" setup with their ypipe.

The .2 intercoolers are a great deal especially if you can find a used set. I sold mine for under a grand for the set. I think some dealers like Sonnen used to sell them for a little over cost but that was a while ago. They worked well even with 63vtgs. On my 68s they weren't quite up to the task of keeping temps down but that may have been because my particular tune at that time targeted 1.6bar all the way up to redline. Up to about 125mph they were fine but temps rocketed above that speed. I changed to DO88 big pack and it's an awesome set but obviously a bit more money.
