Seat position sensor. What is its purpose purpose? And what if it’s bad?

I imagine without that sensor working, the memory position settings would be unreliable or non-functional.

It's just a random connector under the seat, right? I have seen that one too. Asked the dealer years ago and they said it's not used. Not sure what it was originally intended for.

On the passenger seat frame there should be a position sensor for sensing position of seat for Airbag deployment. If it's bad or not calibrated red message on IC passenger's Airbag fault and it will be disabled.

it's not to know if a passenger is in the seat?? I thought that the passenger airbag would only got off in an accident if a passenger is in that seat

Thanks for all the replies. And yes the flux capacitor is actually a seat position sensor. And does play a part in air bag deployment. Apparently it has something to do with how fast or hard the air bag pops depending on proximity of the occupant. Lucky for me. I did not need it as I traced the wires back to the connector which will not be used in my 06 db9. This seat came from a 2009 vantage. I’m in the middle of doing a complete interior color change. That should’ve been done months ago. But life always gets in the way.
